Ingredients for making sardine pizza with bread yeast:

Pizza dough:

3 cups of wheat flour (420 grams)

 1 cup of warm water

 ½ cup of olive oil

1 envelope of dry biological yeast

 1 tablespoon of salt

 ½ tablespoon sugar

Roof:

1 cup of tomato sauce for pizza

500 grams of flattened sardines (fresh or thawed)

 1 cup of olives

 ½ onion

 1 tablespoon of oregano

How to make sardine pizza with bread yeast:

Prepare your sardine pizza by dissolving the yeast and sugar in warm water. Set aside for about 5 minutes or until you see that the yeast is active (it will form a foam on the surface of the water).

Tip: Dry biological yeast is also called instant granulated bread yeast.

In a large bowl mix the flour and salt and open a small hole in the center. Place the previous preparation of yeast, sugar and water there and also add the oil. Mix everything very well, in a circular motion, from the center outwards.

Tip: If you prefer, you can prepare this pizza dough in an electric mixer or in the bread machine.

After mixing the liquid ingredients in the flour, knead and knead your pizza dough, preferably on a floured surface, until it is smooth and does not come off your hands (it may take up to 15 minutes to achieve this point).

Shape the dough into a ball and place in a bowl greased with oil. Cover with a cloth or plastic wrap and set aside outside the refrigerator for 1-2 hours or until it rises and doubles the volume.

Tip: You can place the dough inside the preheated oven, only until it is warm, and turned off. This warm temperature will favor dough growth.

After that time, preheat the oven to 200ºC. Take the dough and lightly knead on a floured bench, just to remove the fermentation gas. Then roll it out with a roller, giving it a disc shape, and shape the edges with your fingers so that they are taller.

Tip: If you like, divide the dough into two equal halves to prepare two medium-sized pizzas.

Spread the tomato sauce on the pizza and arrange the sliced onion, skin-side up sardines and olives. Sprinkle oregano and bake in a high oven (200ºC) for 15-20 minutes or until the edges of the dough are golden brown.

Tip: If you prefer, you can replace the flattened sardines with pickled sardines of your choice. In this case, prefer sardines seasoned or with tomato sauce.
